What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, durable film applied to the exterior of a vehicle therefore protecting the paint from scratches, stone chips, swirl marks and other contaminants.
PPF is made of multiple layers, including a clear topcoat that resists scratches and a self-healing layer that can repair minor surface scratches through heat or sunlight exposure, subsequently it acts as a barrier between the vehicle’s paint and external elements to maintain the vehicle’s appearance over time.
Whilst clear film is the most popular option and gives a glossy finish, of course there are also other options available too such as: Matte film, Chrome film, Pattern film & Colour film.
What is the difference between PPF and Vinyl Wrap?
Vinyl wraps are primarily used for changing the appearance of a vehicle. They come in a wider variety of colours, finishes, and textures and are applied over the existing paint to give a new look. While vinyl wraps can provide some protection against minor scratches and UV damage, they are not as robust in protecting against impacts compared to PPF.
Paint Protection Film is highly durable and can withstand daily exposure to environmental elements, whereas vinyl require more careful maintenance to preserve its appearance.
How long does Paint Protection Film last?
PPF lasts up to 10 years with proper care, the vehicle must be washed regularly, and no contaminants left on the surface for weeks at a time. Initial application will also impact longevity, therefore it is important the vehicle is prepped thoroughly and the PPF is installed using proper techniques.
Is Paint Protection Film suitable for my vehicle?
PPF can be applied to most vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, and even boats. It is particularly beneficial for vehicles that are frequently exposed to road debris and environmental hazards. Undoubtedly a worthwhile investment to preserve your vehicles value.
